Happee Birthdae Harry

At Number 4 Privet Drive in Newcrest, things are certainly about to get interesting for a bunch of young wizards who have just arrived. The eight young wizards were dressed in their house uniforms, as they had just been sorted, but the Sorting Plumbob had just remembered that it forgot to sing it’s sorting song! Because of this, they allow the wizards to go inside the house as he sings the song to himself.

Oh, you may not think I’m pretty,
But don’t judge on what you see,
I’ll eat myself if you can find
A smarter plumbob than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I’m the Hogwarts Sorting Plumbob,
And I can cap them all.

There’s nothing hidden in your head,
The Sorting Plumbob can’t see,
So try me on and I will tell you,
Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

05-07-29-15_11-50 PM

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

09-07-29-15_11-52 PM

Or perhaps in Slytherin
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don’t be afraid!
And don’t get in a flap!
You’re in safe hands (though I have none),
For I’m a Thinking Cap!

After the Sorting Plumbob had finished it’s song, one of the students, Joel Potter apparated himself into a magical plane known as CAS, although not many people know what it means. Smiling, he begins to introduce himself.

“Hi! I’m a representation of Joel Rochdale and SummerFalls as if they were in the Harry Potter world. I’m here to convey a message from SummerFalls, so I will be him for the time being. And, I will now apparate out of here and take the Polyjuice Potion!” Joel Potter explained before he apparated out of CAS and into a room that was open to the sky. Behind him was a bunch of Harry Potter posters, however he was now SummerFalls.

“I would say that Harry Potter has been a major influence in my life in terms of my imagination and my creativity. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the first novel I ever read and I instantly fell in love with it. I loved how the world was built up from nothing and I loved how all of the characters were so diverse and interesting.

As the years went on, and the final book was released when I was 7, I went with my older sister to get it signed and I met J.K Rowling! It was like a dream come true, and I honestly almost fainted. I regret being too shy to say anything, haha!

Now that I’m 15, I realise that I want to write Fantasy because Harry Potter opened that door for me. It opened my imagination up to lots of magical creatures that I had the potential to create and magical systems that had the power to go deeper. I also grew emotionally with Harry Potter, as I slowly grew attached to the characters and cried when most of them died.

Writing wise, Harry Potter was probably my main inspiration for my earliest writing works, but today I am also inspired by many other things. But still, I’ll never forget the things that Harry Potter has taught me.

So, Happee Birthdae Harry Potter and thank you, for always being there for me and for always saving the world when you can. I’ll always remember when we all first saw the grown up you in the cupboard under the stairs.

Love from, Joel
Writer and Harry Potter Super Fan!”

    ❤ My Simself got to be there!!!! I'm so ridiculously happy about that!!! I feel like a kid again. I was afraid I had missed it since, I was late to the Harry Potter discussion on the forum. But of course you already knew I had a simself and was a Potter fan.

    This was really neat, by the way. So fun. Happy birthday Harry, Neville, and JK!!

    AHH, this makes me want to reread the series…and write fanfiction…and play through Pottermore all over again…and join a Hogwarts rp…maybe a larp… Darn you for this.

    But also, this is so amazingly perfect in every way. ❤ As a child, I wasn't allowed to have anything to do with the series due to my mom's overzealous religious beliefs. When I was 11 or so, my grandma snuck me her copy of the first movie, and I was instantly hooked. My love of it has only grown over time.

    Ironically, Harry Potter is indirectly responsible for my love of The Sims. I created a small forum-based HP role-play with a few friends of mine when I was in middle school, and one of them was at the peak of her TS3 obsession. She made all of our character pictures for us with cc, and I got really interesting in the CAS side of Sims. Here I am today, with TS3, TS4, too much cc, and three blogs — and all of you awesome friends! So, happy birthday Harry, Nevile, and JK Rowling, and thanks for indirectly bringing me to all of these amazing people. ❤

      I’ve already done a Hogwarts RP but I’ll join you in the Larping! I’d love to be a wizard sometime.
      It’s nice that your Grandma got you hooked on HP since without that, you might not have been with us today! Thanks Grandma!
      Thanks for your lovely comment Jordan! ❤ 🙂

    I’m reading this new literary work of yours in the dark, in bed, on my tiny phone. I saw Simselves I recognized and I think I saw Rory. I wasn’t sure, but it sure made me hope it was her. To be sorted with friends wearing my Hogwarts school uniform on Privet Drive! You always spin the best stories. I loved the Plumbob sorting hat song! You are brilliant! 🙂

    Aww this is so good! Harry Potter is awesome and such a great source of inspiration/spark igniter!

    I used to attempt Harry Potter roleplay in Second Life at one point, actually (light years back haha), but since nobody was really online during European times it didn’t last long.

    My love of Harry Potter and his world though, they’ve lasted up till now. I can’t even know how many times I’ve read all of the books.

    Thank you for this great post, it made me smile so wide!

      I agree that Harry Potter is a great source of inspiration! I don’t even know how many times I’ve read the books either, I do read them at least once a year though!

    How did I miss this? I was in busyland. Oh! I know how I missed it! I was busy being a Hufflepuff with the Writers’ Lounge getting moved and removed and stuff! This is lovely, and I am so glad to be a Hufflepuff with lovely Meggles–and is that Rosey as a Hufflepuff, too?

    And what’s the future for this? Was this solely a birthday special or is it a new series? Very, very fun. And thank you!

    Reblogged this on Goofy Love and Other Stories and commented:
    A few days ago, on Harry Potter’s birthday, Joel Rochdale/ Summerfalls posted this. And look! So many Simmers are there! What fun! And what an honor it’s been to have Joel as a counselor at camp this summer. We still have two more sessions left (at least!), so there’s lots more SummerFalls wonderfulness coming until Winter Rises! 🙂

    That is great you got to meet an author that inspired you so much! This coming September I’m going to a convention to meet Anne Bishop, one of my all-time favorite authors, of which I wrote for a play-by-post forum based on one of her book worlds for years long before I got into Sims and SimLit, and I’m already fangirling! I can’t wait to get that experience, and to hear her speak at her guest panels about her processes as an author!

    As for Harry Potter, I’m quite a bit older (80s kid *cough cough* ) and I didn’t jump into it right when the fandom was in its hayday. I actually purposefully waited because sometimes when there is a huge hype around something and everyone is talking about it, it decreases my interest for a time. After all the movies were finally released, then one day I said, “You know what? I’m ready to read Harry Potter!” Seeing as I’m a librarian, I have a coworker who is like you, he grew up with the books, waited in line to get the new ones, and is a HUGE fanboy, and when I asked if I could borrow his copies he lit up. He practically sparkled. He was so excited to have someone, after all these years, who had never read Harry Potter that was going to experience it for the first time that he could watch going through that experience and talk to about it. It was a lot of fun! I think I took a mid-series break at one point to read another book just to keep things fresh, but for the most part went through the seven books pretty quickly, over the course of one summer.

    But is it sad that the Pottermore website sorted me into Slytherin? That made me doubt my character for weeks after that… -_-;;

      Hahaha! I got sorted into Gryffindor and then Ravenclaw and then back into Gryffindor! (I kept forgetting my password xD)
      I just love the world that Harry Potter is in, it’s so built up and developed and I hope as a writer, I’m able to accomplish the same when I write / edit my novels.
